Twelve local entrepreneurs in Valencia City have secured business start-up capital through the Office of the Vice President’s signature livelihood program, Mag Negosyo Ta ‘Day (MTD).

Facilitated by the OVP-Southern Mindanao Satellite Office (OVP-SMSO), the grant provides targeted financial aid to help residents launch or grow small business ventures.

While originally launched to support women entrepreneurs, the MTD initiative has steadily widened its scope across the region to empower a diverse range of marginalized groups—including former rebels, Indigenous Peoples (IPs), senior citizens, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

To prepare the 12 beneficiaries for long-term management, the OVP collaborated with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to deliver a Financial Literacy Training prior to fund release. The recipients were also guided through liquidation guidelines before receiving assistance to encash their checks and procure essential operational supplies.

By pairing direct capital investment with practical financial education, the agency seeks to foster resilient, self-sustaining micro-enterprises in the region.
