The PagbaBAGo: A Million Learners Campaign, a flagship program designed to empower Filipino children via inclusive and accessible basic school materials, provided around 3,000 elementary students in 25 public schools in Ormoc City with crucial education material needs.
The OVP-Eastern Visayas Satellite Office (EV SO) oversaw the distribution, which took place on February 18 and 19, 2026. The program's dedication to reaching kids in various Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) was further demonstrated by the distribution of 2,983 PagbaBAGo bags to recognized learners in neighborhoods throughout the city. The carefully chosen materials in each PagbaBAGo bag are meant to meet the daily needs of pupils attending public schools. These include raincoats to shield kids from inclement weather—especially important in Eastern Visayas, a region that is regularly hit by typhoons and torrential rains—dental hygiene kits to encourage health and self-care, and notebooks and other school supplies to support academic work.
Education stakeholders observe that even basic school supplies can be expensive for many families, particularly those that are struggling financially. The initiative ensures that youngsters can go to school prepared and self-assured by easing these costs.
The goal of the PagbaBAGo: A Million Learners Campaign is to reach vulnerable and underprivileged students nationwide. It aims to convey a strong message—that every Filipino child should have the chance to learn in a setting that fosters self-respect, resiliency, and ambition—rather than just distributing materials. Teachers in the area applauded the idea, highlighting how initiatives like PagbaBAGo boost student involvement in the classroom, increase attendance, and boost student morale. For many children, receiving a complete set of school materials can serve as a source of motivation—affirming that their education matters.
Apart from school supplies, three students who are persons with disabilities (PWDs) also received wheelchairs from the OVP-EV SO in addition to school equipment. The goal of the mobility assistance is to encourage safer, more respectable access to education and to lessen obstacles that can prevent regular attendance at school.
By acknowledging that equal access to school necessitates not only academic resources but also focused support for children with particular needs, the gesture highlights the campaign's larger fight for inclusivity.
The OVP reaffirms its dedication to making sure that no learner is left behind as the campaign spreads over more locations. More than just tangible assistance is contained in each bag given out and wheelchair supplied; it also contains inspiration, optimism, and the prospect of a better future for the following generation.
