In a collaborative effort to champion safety, inclusivity, and women’s empowerment, the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP), with the participation of the Office of the Vice President-Eastern Visayas Satellite Office (OVP-EV SO), conducted a Gender and Development (GAD) Training on Women’s Protection Laws on August 28, 2026.

The empowerment seminar took place at the Brgy. 97, Ridgeview Park subdivision in Cabalawan, Tacloban City. The training session extensively tackled crucial laws shielding women and children from violence, strategies to prevent sexual harassment, and foundational concepts on gender sensitivity to cultivate safer community spaces.

To bolster the initiative, the OVP-EV SO distributed 99 Relief for Indigents and Individuals in Crises and Emergencies (R.I.I.C.E.) food packs to the participants. The beneficiaries comprised local women, members of marginalized sectors, and grassroots community stakeholders.

The OVP-EV SO reiterated its dedication to advocating for sector empowerment, human protection, and community welfare, promising sustained localized efforts to build more inclusive neighborhoods across Eastern Visayas.
